Thank you for taking the time to look at my site. Here you will find a little about me and how I came to where I am today.
I am a man with a passion for all things on wheels, especially those that only have two! As far back as I can remember, I was turning wrenches. I got my first minibike at age 6 and learned to work on it. Through the years many more bikes have come and gone, of which included British, Japanese, American and German motorcycles from the top marquees.
At age 15, I began working in an engine machine shop, where I learned all aspects of engine machining and rebuilding. I was fascinated with the internal combustion engine and the ability to disassemble, machine, fit and renew a motor. Any aspect of the motor could be changed to perform at various levels, whether a daily rider/driver to all out race. I continued through the years, obtaining various certifications related to the field of machining and keeping up with today's technology of computer controlled vehicles. From fuel injection and engine management systems to anti lock brakes.
I immersed myself in all things that had an engine and eventually learned additional skills such as paint and body, fabricating, etc...This eventually led to me doing complete restorations for private collectors in my own small machine shop. All this, while maintaining a full time position as a police officer. Sadly after many wonderful years in law enforcement, my career came to an abrupt halt when I became disabled in the line of duty. Although sad, this gave me the opportunity to pursue my passion full time.
During the years, I became increasingly drawn to the BMW brand. From the early years of the Beemer, I was impressed with the solid, well deserved reputation as a true performer in terms of reliability and endurance. I have developed many wonderful relationships with other fellow Beemer enthusiast and found the majority, like myself, to really enjoy putting miles on these machines. This of course leads to repair and maintenance of your motorcycle to keep it performing at it's peak. Unlike many of the Japanese brands that all had the same basic design, BMW had their own idiosyncrasy's that set them apart. This, in combination with the high maintenance cost; ownership can become somewhat cost prohibitive if you take it to the dealer for every service, problem, etc. Knowing how to work on these machines and having the right tools makes all the difference.
Whether you're wanting to save money by performing work or service yourself, or doing frame up restorations in your own garage, I will try to include tools, products, blogs and videos on this site to help you achieve your goals!
Ride Safe,
J.W.
